The Culture of Small and Sustainable Farmers

Farmers from Central Valley immigrant communities will share the importance of sustaining this form of agriculture not only for economic reasons but because for some cultures, such as Hmong and Indigenous Mexican, it is part of preserving strong farming traditions.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

The Importance of Native Languages: What Happens If We Loose It?

A dialogue that explores the effects of loosing one's native language as well as ways to pass down and preserve language and traditions.

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Intergenerational Dialogue

A dialogue among generations - elders and youth - addressing similarities and differences and sharing testimonies on continuing with traditions and values. Elders will share how they have continued with traditions and how they have tried to share those traditions with future generations while Youth will share the things they have accepted and rejected. Both generations will also share how they got across certain barriers and how different generations modify traditions and values. In other words, there is still a passing of tradition but in different form.
